How it works
Freelancers is for skills and know-how: online work, lessons and consultations. Every order is paid through NaijaMart Trust, so your money is safe until the work is done.
1. For clients: hire with Trust
- Search for what you need, or post a job and let freelancers send you proposals.
- Compare packages, stars from real orders, and how many orders each freelancer has completed. Every freelancer has passed NaijaMart's identity check.
- Order: tell the freelancer what they need, then transfer the exact amount shown into NaijaMart Trust. The money is held; it is not sent to the freelancer.
- The freelancer delivers on NaijaMart. You then have 3 days to approve it, ask for a revision, or raise a problem.
- Approve, and Trust pays the freelancer. If you raise nothing for 3 days after delivery, Trust pays them automatically.
- Once the order is complete, leave a review. Only clients of completed orders can, so every review is real.
2. For freelancers: sell your skills
- Set up your page on the Sell page and complete your identity check once. Trust pays approved work into the bank account verified as yours.
- Publish gigs with up to three packages, photos and what you need from the client. Every gig is checked before it goes live.
- Answer job posts with a proposal, or send a client a custom offer in your messages.
- Start work only when Freelancers tells you the money is held in Trust. Deliver on NaijaMart; that is what starts the client's window.
- Your level (New, Rising, Top rated) comes from completed orders, stars and on-time delivery.
3. Where each service belongs
Freelancers sells skills and know-how. Fixing or making things at your place (plumbing, AC repair, tailoring, hair) belongs on OniseOwo. Services at or for an event (DJs, catering, decor, event photography) belong on PartyVendors. If you search for one of those here, you are sent to the right place with your words.
In person is allowed on Freelancers only for lessons and coaching, professional consultations at the professional's place, and photo or video shoots that are not events.
4. Money, fees and refunds
- Fees: nothing on top of the price during launch. The order screen shows exactly what you pay and what the freelancer receives.
- An order not paid within 7 days closes itself; nothing is taken.
- A paid order can be cancelled by agreement, or by you if it is more than a day late with nothing delivered. The refund goes back through Trust to your own verified account.
- Money that arrives after an order was closed is sent straight back.
5. Staying safe
- Keep talks and payment on NaijaMart. Phone numbers, emails, social handles and bank details are refused in messages, offers, deliveries and reviews.
- Report a conversation in one tap if someone asks you to pay outside NaijaMart, looks like a scam, or is abusive.
- Hiring a professional? Ask to see their practising certificate and check with their professional body.
6. Questions
Do I pay the freelancer directly?
No. Every order on Freelancers is paid into NaijaMart Trust. The freelancer is paid only after you approve the work, or after your approval window ends with nothing raised.
What if the work is not what we agreed?
Ask for a revision if your package includes one, or raise a problem. NaijaMart Trust's arbitrator looks at the order, the delivery and the messages, and decides how the money is settled.
Can a freelancer ask me to pay outside NaijaMart?
They should not, and the site refuses phone numbers, emails and bank details in messages. Anyone who asks you to pay outside NaijaMart is not protected by Trust: report them.
Is there a fee?
Fees: nothing on top of the price during launch. You see exactly what you will pay, and what the freelancer receives, before you transfer.
